There hasn’t been any shortage of highlights for Annie Trollope in her 12 years in the Sydney stable of premier trainer Chris Waller.
“I joined Chris when he had 28 horses in work” Annie said. “We’ve come a long way since then, had some great horses, and now we’ve got Winx who’s one of the best in the world. I’ve been in the background most of the time, but I’ve totally enjoyed it.”
In the background, maybe, but to her boss she is someone whose care and devotion compelled him to nominate her in the Leadership category of the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards.
“Annie is key to overseeing the smooth and efficient procedures that make out stable successful,” Waller said. The procedures for which Annie is responsible, have helped the stable win five Sydney training championships.
Among her duties are liaising with vets, organising staff and riders on racedays and in training, ensuring the stable is stocked with everything from horse rugs to medications and just about everything else that makes the business tick. Annie is responsible for 70 staff in eight barns that contain 140 horses – and, according to her boss, she performs her role in a calm and confident manner that maintains an extraordinary level of team morale.
While she doesn’t seek praise, Annie is delighted to have received a nomination for the stud and stable staff awards. “It’s a great privilege and honour to be among so many hard working, talented people who have been nominated for the Awards,” she said.
